Q of the Week: Shaun White Snowboarding - No Feet?

I just watched some of the developer videos on the Shaun White Snowboarding game. The first one I saw started with the image below. What is up with the feet? Now I’m assuming he’s in some nice powder but this would never occur in real life unless the guy had been standing there for a long time in order for the weather to cover his board and feet. This just would not happen.

Now, I love snowboarding games and when I heard of a new game being developed for next gen systems, I had hopes that it would deliver true next gen graphics and physics. The game does look pretty good but to have this be one of the first views I saw, it turned me off.

The game still has a way to go so hopefully some of these issues will be cleaned up before launch this winter, 2008. I just don’t think this will be fixed as it looks like it was meant to look like this:

Q of the Week: Boring Games?

Why would a game company put out a game in which you have to clean a fish tank?

What game designer sat around thinking, hmm…what game should we create next? OH! I know! Let’s create an aquarium game that you need to clean the tank in order to keep the fish alive. That will provide hours of endless fun. Yeah!

I don’t think so. Come on game creators, there’s plenty of good ideas still out there. Put your talents to good use.

Of course, I did actually see this game from someone who bought it. So maybe there is a need for this type of game? hmmmmm.

What were they thinking?

1UP.com just posted another iteration of the worst video game covers. The new Hey Covers, You Still Suck runs through another great selection of some of the worst video game covers. They do a great job finding covers of the past and present that just make you ask, what were they thinking. I have to say, this is the worst video game cover, hands down, I’ve ever seen:

Cowboy Kid Cover

That really makes me ask…what were they thinking?

Save Games? - Gamer Question of the Day

Why the hell can’t we save sports games like football, baseball, etc halfway through a game?

I think gaming technology is far enough along that this should be pretty easy. I wouldn’t care if the save game is 5 megs, let me save my game so I can come back to it later.
